Nuffield Health Cambridge Hospital was acquired by the Nuffield Health Hospitals Group in 2003. It was built in 1921, on land owned by Cambridge University’s Trinity College, at a cost of £27,000 by a philanthropic fine art dealer, Charles Morland Agnew, and named The Evelyn Nursing Home after his wife

Today the hospital has 46 beds and four operating theatres for major and minor surgery. It employs 120 permanent staff and accommodates the practices of 200 consultants working across a broad range of disciplines. The hospital’s main specialties include the care and treatment of cancer, orthopaedic surgery and ENT and general surgery.

We’ve been awarded the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark at Nuffield Heath Cambridge Hospital . This award was developed in collaboration with more than 400 people living with cancer, who helped to shape its criteria.

Providing the Best Possible Care

Award-Winning Cancer Care at Our Cambridge Hospital

At the Nuffield Health Cambridge Hospital, we are able to deliver comprehensive, first class private cancer services. Our standard of care was recognised when we became one of the first private hospitals in the UK to be awarded the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark for ‘Cancer Care Facilities’.

We are co-located with the NHS Trust regional cancer centre, at Addenbrookes. As a result we have a team of eminent physicians, surgeons, oncologists, palliative care specialists and expert nurses all providing excellent private cancer care. Cancer can be a frightening illness and access to the best treatment, the best care, and the most up to date advice is critical.

Space Dedicated to You

Our Private Oncology Unit

We are very fortunate at the Nuffield Health Hospital in Cambridge to have a dedicated oncology floor. Here our patients have privacy and comfort away from the main outpatient and inpatient activities of the hospital and can fully focus on their treatment and recovery in peace.

The unit has both chemotherapy treatment rooms, where patients can sit with other patients and relatives whilst treatment takes place, as well as private rooms to accommodate patients requiring privacy or to be with relatives. We have consulting rooms either within the unit or in the main hospital where patients are seen by their oncologist and supported by nurses.

The unit is staffed by a dedicated experienced oncology nursing team who are on hand to provide advice on every aspect of care for patients and relatives throughout the course of treatment. You can speak to any of us at any time, and we are happy to help you by liaising with GPs or other specialists you may need for support. We also have access to Macmillan oncology dieticians who can give advice on nutrition requirements and we work closely with Macmillan Cancer Support for information and support.
